Tartaro
Il tartaro è la mineralizzazione della placca batterica, ovvero la placca batterica non correttamente eliminata attraverso l’igiene orale, calcifica e dà vita al tartaro che si attacca al dente. La formazione del tartaro, oltre che a una cattiva igiene orale, può essere legata a un’alterazione della saliva, a una dieta scorretta, al fumo e al consumo di caffè. La detartrasi o ablazione del tartaro è la fase dell’igiene orale professionale atta alla rimozione del tartaro, anche dai punti meno raggiungibili.
